Nokia 5800 XpressMusic Vs iPhone 3G

Personal opinion maybe biased but comparisons are based on both phones features and functionalities. (Italic added)

iPhone 3G, Apple’s most recent release of the iPhone series has met real competition recently with the new release from Nokia, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic code-named ‘Tube’. Now this is certainly not for Apple Fans because what I’m going to talk about is something that is not might not be in favor of iPhone.

Since it’s release, iPhone has created a new vision in the world of cell-phones. the whole touch system and the applications drove millions of people crazy. But now, things are a bit different. Unlike the golden times for Apple, now nokia 5800 has proved that iPhone is not the only one in the game. Probably that’s the reason I thought of writing this Nokia 5800 Vs iPhone comparison. Overall, I personally think that Nokia 5800 has been built to counter the growing influence of iPhone and also add all the features that were recommended by Apple users, which now gives them a better choice. So here is a comparison table with features that each phone either supports of does not support:

# Nokia 5800 XpressMusic Apple iPhone 3G
1 Nokia’s XpressMusic series has been widely famous for its great music quality, plus nokia has also pushed in a new online music store, plus any XpressMusicc phone comes in with a 1 year subscription to download unlimited songs (with DRM). Apple’s online music store, iTunes has been a major player for their music advance, but their music qualities and online integration have made them really popular in terms of music.
2 This cell phone comes in with a 3.2 Mega pixels camera with Carl Zeiss Optics and dual flash, this is quite enough for just a phone. The iPhone came in with just a 2 Megapixels camera and no Flash nor Carl Zeiss optics.
3 It claims up to 35 hours of Music, and it is overall better either for voice, data and standby (about 15 to 30% more) It has up to 24 hours of Music, and other technical specifications regarding the Battery life are below Nokia 5800.
4 It comes with a 8GB Micro SD Card, so this is definitely better because upgrading memory would be very cheap and easy. It comes in two forms, 8GB and 16GB internal. Although that is quite a lot but extending memory in any case is not possible.
5 It has a 3.2″ screen with a resolution of 640×360, which means a higher resolution on relatively not so big screen. It has a 3.5″ screen with a resolution of 480 x 320, which means a small resolution on a big screen, not very impressive.
6 It does not only offer finger touch but stylus and plectrum as well which gives us more choices on the Input method. It basically depends on personal taste as iPhone only offers finger touch as the input method.
7 Video Recording is another common feature of a Nokia mobile. In addition you can record videos with the standard Nokia application and make video calls, something not yet possible on the iPhone. Although the iPhone is capable of playing some video formats some services have to be installed whereas they come pre-installed in nokia 5800.
8 This is the best part, an unlocked Nokia 5800 XpressMusic costs $390 only, which is quite amazing compared to the features. Buying an iPhone involves some serious money, Since it is always bought with a contract, paying for the first month and then the cancellations fees and all, A single iPhone with all these costs included would cost you about $800, see the difference!

I think that the results are very clear leading to one result, that until iPhone makes another release with more features Nokia 5800 is to stay on top, not only because of the slick features but also because it gave birth to a whole new concept to all of the cellular companies like Nokia to keep up with the generation.
